And a Message from the Editor

Happy New Year!

'Tis the season to create and so we're creating new ways to participate in The Virtual Abbey community. In addition to praying the Daily Office on Twitter, we're just starting to hang out over on Facebook. Think of our Facebook page as a virtual social hall where you may start a discussion or join one -- without having to schlep along cookies or a casserole for everybody.

So what will be going on right here?

As our Abbess has already noted, we'll be providing resources and reflections to support modern monasticism in the Benedictine tradition. What she didn't mention is that you are invited to help make that possible by writing for The Virtual Abbey blog. Options include being either an occasional or regular contributor. As the editor of this adventure, I welcome volunteers for a specific "beat" or topic area.

If writing isn't your thing, then consider suggesting audio content. Right now, for example, I'm listening to Music for Compline, a gorgeous collection I highly recommend. Please tell us about music that enhances the prayerful atmosphere in your home. If you're an artist or photographer, consider sharing visual encounters with the Divine here.

You can get a copy of our editorial and submissions guidelines by sending email to: info [at] thevirtualabbey.com. Also feel free to use that address or the comment box to let us know how we can better support your life as a modern monastic. We'll be letting you know how you can support ours.
